    • Baro was always careful not to offend Durgue.  
    • ICAT and MEISON decimated two Oromo organizations: “Bilisummaa” and “Oromiyaa” 
    • When Gen. Tadese Biru and Megersa Bari died in armed struggle, Baro Tumsa et al were working for Dergue.
    • Jara called on Lenco Lata, Baro Tumsa and Badho Dachasa (aka Damaksa) to join armed struggle. 
    • Only Badho Dachasa believed in armed struggle and joined right away. 
    • Baro Tumsa escaped to Hararghe later after Durgue turned against him. 
    • OLF was already formed by Elemo Qilxu, Mulis AbaGada, and Jara AbaGada. 
    • Baro Tumsa was an intellectual. 
    • Baro Tumsa was immediately awarded a leadership position in OLF. He was obsessed with power. 
    • Leenco Lata and Abacala Lata joined following Baro Tumsa. 
    • There was a leadership meeting after-which Baro, Badho, Lenco, and Abacala remained together.
    • Badho and Baro always argued and never got along. 
    • Badho reportedly shot at Baro. Baro died on the way to hospital.  
    • Badho is said to have shot himself after being shot on the foot by an individual.  
    • When asked of this incident, the late Jara said this: “All I know is that I have had Lenco Lata sign a letter confirming I didn’t kill Baro Tumsa.”

    Mul’ata Karaatti Hafe! (Seenaa Gooticha Oromoo Baaroo Tumsaa)

    Finfinneefi magaalota kanbiroo keessatti yaada ‘Lafti Qoteebulaaf’ jedhu irratti dargaggoota hedduu gurmeessuudhaan bittaan warra Nafxanyootaa akka gabaabbatu taasisuuratti gumaacha guddaa taasiseera.     Jijjiiramni inni fides Oromoo qofaaf utuu hinta’iin, bittaa warra abbaa lafaa jala turan hundaaf akka ta’e seenaan ni dhugoomsa. Baaroon bara 1966 barnootasaa erga xumuree booda biiroo eegumsa fayyaatti miindefamee hojjechuu jalqabe. Waajjira kana keessa amma turetti loogii bara dheeraaf  ana hojii sana keessaa ture qorachuudhaan qajeelfama ture sana jijjiiree namoota hedduudhaaf bu’aa ta’eera. Sobdootaafi warreen malaamaltummaadhaan jiraatanis qaanessaa tureera.

    Baaroo Tumsaa sochii hedduu taasise cinatti bara 1964 Aadde Warqinash Bultoo wajjin bultii  ijaarrate. Aadde Warqinash Bultoo obboleettii Jeneraal Demisee Bultoo yommuu ta’an, abbaan isaanii Obbo Bultoo Ejersaammoo Waldaa Maccaafi Tuulamaa keessatti miseensa turani. Cidhi Baaroo Tumsaa Oromoota sadarkaa hojii adda addaarra bakka adda addaarra jiran hundaa biratti haala ho’aadhaan waan kabajameef diina biratti akka sochii siyaasaatti fudhatamee isaan sodaachisaa ture. Dargaggeessi lammiisaatiif akka guddaatti inaaffaa garbummaa hunkuteessuuf qabatee ka’e kun tarkaanfii diinaa kan itti caalchisaa deemeefi akka malee sodaachisee gara isa dhabamsiisuuf ka’ame sochii bara 1966 ka’e akkanni karaattti hafuuf gumaacha taasisera. Amma ammaatti saba Oromoo hedduu biratti akka gaariitti kan dubbifamuufi jaallatamu (The Oromo Voice Against Tyranny Document 1971) kan jedhu garee hojjetootasaa wajjin namoota hedduu bira akka ga’u taasiseera.

Garuu utuu hinturiin mootummaan dargii itti inaafuudhaan fuudhee ministeera beeksisaa jala galche.

    Har’a gaazeexaan Bariisaa faayidaa siyaasaatiif jedhamee kan qophaawu malee faayidaa eenyummaa saba Oromootiif jedhee miti. Baay’inaan waa’ee eenyummaa Oromoo irrattis kan hojjetaa jiru miti.  Maqaa kana qabatee gaazexaan bahaa jiru garuu ammayyuu biyya Oromiyaa keessa jira. Qubee Afaan Oromoo har’a sabni Oromoo itti fayyadamu Baaroo Tumsaafi Hayilee Fidaafaatu bara lubbuun jiran qopheessani. Bara 1973 qabsoon Oromoo akka inni sadarkaa olaanaarra ga’uuf kaayyoo balla’aa baasuudhaan wiirtuu Qaama Qindoominaa yookaan  ‘Central Coordinating Body’ dhaaba jedhu hundeesseera. Kunis immoo turee dhaaba Adda Bilisummaa Oromoo jedhutti jijjiirameera.

    Bara 1974 daba mootummaan Hayile Sillaaseefi jaleensaa uummaatarratti geessisaa turan qaamni qoratu hundaa’e.  Kana keessattis Baaroon miseensa ta’ee akka hojjetu erga taasifameen booda namoota Oromoo hinta’iniin rakkoo keessa galafamuuf tureera. Garuu rakkoo isaan Baaroorratti qopheessan kana namoota miseensa Dargii turaniin karaatti hafeera. Baaroon dhaabbata siyaasaa bara sana keessatti hundeeffaman hunda dhiisee saba bara mootummaa Haayile Sillaasee cunqrsaan irra ga’aa ture hundaa kan ofitti haammatu dhaaba Wala’ansoo saba balla’a unqursamoota Itiyoophiyaa ‘Ye Itoophiyaa Ciqunooch Abiyootawwii Tigil’ jedhu hundeesse.

    Dhaabni kunis saba Oromoofi sabaafi sablammoota cunqurfamoota byyattii kan ofkeessatti haammate ture. Isaan booda Dargiin yeroo jabaachaa deemu oftuulummaasaa dabalaa deemuun dargiin dhaaba ‘EMALEDHI” jdhaman diiguutti kaanaan Oromoonni baay’een gara qabsootti seenuu jalqaban. Bara 1974 tti hundaa’ee baha Oromiyaa keessatti soch’aa kan ture Dhaabbati Bilisummaa Oromoo qabsaa’ota hedduu horachuu danda’ee ture. Baaroonis qabsoo kanatti seeenuudhaan gara bahaatti deemee geggeessummaan hojjetaa utuu jiruu bara 1977 tti lubbuunsaa darbe. Duutii Baaroo umurii gabaabaafi akka tasaa dhaaba Adda Bilissummaa Oromoofi uummata Oromoo akka malee naasiseera; miidheeras. Dargaggeessi umurii waggaa 35 tti diinaan ajjeeffame kun bara hundumaa godaannisa hindagatamne saba Oromoo irratti maxxansee jira.  Diinni oldeemtota Oromoo karaatti hambisuun isa duras ta’ee isaa asitti kan itti fufaa turedha.

    Akkaataa du’asaa ilaalchisee saba Oromootiif odeeffannoon hinkennamne. Haata’u malee, du’a Baaroo Tumsaan booda namootni yeroo sana turan geggeessummaarratti dandeettii dhabuu qofaa utuu hintaane, ejjennoo dhabuusaaniirraan kanka’e dhaabasaaniitiifis ta’e uummatasaaniitiif ta’uu dadhabuudhaan ummata qaanessaniiru. Kaayyoo inniifi kan isa fakkaatan itti wareegamaniif xiyyeeffannoo guddaan hinkennamne. Har’a sammuufi dandeettiin uummata Oromoo yeroo kamirrayyuu caalaa akka malee guddachaa jira. Dargaggoonni Baaroo Tumsaa bakka bu’an Oromiyaa keessaa biqilanii jiru. Dhiigi Baaroo Tumsaa, Guddinaa Tumsaa, Magarsaa Barii, Jaagamaa Badhaaneefi dhiigi goototni Oromoo hedduun bilisummaafi dagaaginaan guutuummaa Oromiyaa keessa walgayee jira. Seenaan gootota Oromoo sirna diddaa garbummaatiif qabsaa’aa turanii bara baraan gabatee seenaarra hindhabamu. Dhiigni dargaggoota Oromoo harka diinaatiin dhangalaafame bilisummaa  goolee bantii lafaa hundarratti finiinu argamsiisuu akka danda’u firaafi diinni Oromoos wallaala natti hinfakkaatu.

    Nama cimaa kan turaniif Waldaa Maccaafi Tuulamaa keessatti geggeessummaan hojjetaa utuu jiranii Mootummaa Hayile Sillaaseetiin hidhamanii rukkuttaan gidirfamanii lubbuun isaanii waxabajjii bara 1962 umurii waggaa 58tti kan darbe seenaafi ergaa Obbo Hayile Maariyaam Gammadaatiinan barreeffamakoo kana xumura.   • Lubo Feyisa - Donated his organs, cremated and placed under Odaa Tree

    Lubo Teshome Ebba Faisa was born on April 26, 1993, in North York, Ontario Canada to his mother, Betenesh Kitila Obsia, and his father, Teshome Faisa. Lubo had one brother Jaalal Faisa born two years later.

    Lubo attended kindergarten at North York, Ontario, before moving to the USA, Ohio, and attending Worthington Elementary School. The family moving from state to state was common due to the father’s work. The family moved to Michigan (2003) where Lubo attended Plymouth Canton Community School. The family then moved to their last US state, Indiana (2006). Lubo and Jaalal attended Calvary Lutheran School and Lutheran High School of Indianapolis. After Lubo graduated, the family moved back to Canada (2011). Lubo attended UOttawa for a Bachelor’s Degree in Biopharmaceutical Sciences, expecting to graduate in 2016.

    Lubo was working part-time for Public Health Agency of Canada for Emergency Preparedness and Response. He was employed July 2015 – April 2016. Before that, he volunteered for Myungsung Christian Medical Centre Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, as a pharmacist assistant (2013).

    Lubo was a social butterfly. He actively participated in campus activities like Societies: iGEM (Synthetic Biology), Chinese Student Association, Korean Stu. Association, and Competitive Intramural Soccer as a captain. Lubo had many life-long friends and a loving partner— Quinn Philippe.

    Before he was able to graduate his final semester, Lubo was diagnosed with Synovial Sarcoma Cancer in February, 2016. He was treated at both the Ottawa General Hospital, Canada, and Mayo Clinic Minneapolis, MN where he received chemo therapy and radiation therapy. The cancerous tumors he had rapidly progressed from his thigh to his lung and heart.  After a year of fighting cancer and nevergiving up hope, Lubo passed away at Ottawa General Hospital on April 25, 2017 at 11:30 PM, which was 30 minutes before his 24th birthday. Lubo’s last wishes- wishes he gave to his family and partner on his deathbed- were to donate his organs for science & research. The remainder of his body is to be cremated and eventually placed under an Odaa Tree by his family and his partner.

    The favorite: Kenenisa Bekele, Ethiopia
    Personal best: 2:03:03, 2016 Berlin Marathon

    All eyes will be on Bekele. He’s the world record holder at 5,000 and 10,000 meters on the track. He owns three Olympic gold medals. His transition from the track to the roads has gone incredibly well and it showed when he ran 2:03:03 and became the third-fastest marathoner of all time last fall. Bekele has his own sub-two hour marathon ambitions and has been working with sports scientist Yannis Pitsiladis an independent science-based group to break the barrier. The group is separate from the Nike attempt. Bekele was set to make a world record attempt in January’s Dubai Marathon but dropped out of the race after feeling the effects of a calf injury, sustained while being shoved and trampled at the starting line. He’s reportedly in good shape and setting the world record only requires a seven-second personal best, which seems much more reasonable than carving three full minutes off. If Bekele hopes to break the world record, he is fully capable of it.

    Lilesa’s last eight months have been a whirlwind. He won a silver medal at the 2016 Olympics while protesting the Ethiopian government in the process. He feared for his life and since he was unable to come home, he came to the United States. He ran several solid half marathons and continued training in Flagstaff, Ariz., before finally being reunited with his family. While Lilesa’s political strife continues, his athleticism remains. He has experience having run the London Marathon before and his personal best puts him as the third-fastest in the field. There should be a little extra motivation that kicks in with a subtle rivalry between Lilesa and Bekele. Lilesa has been very outspoken in his hope to raise awareness for his native Oromo people’s persecution. Bekele is also of Oromo roots but, from my discussions with people within the Ethiopian community, has remained mum on discussing politics because of his stature and businesses in Ethiopia.

     ETHIOPIAN OFFICIALS HIT BACK AT OLYMPIC ATHLETE PLANNING LONDON MARATHON PROTEST

    The Ethiopian Embassy in London has hit back at exiled Ethiopian athlete Feyisa Lilesa, who vowed to protest against his country’s government at the London marathon on Sunday.

    Olympic silver medallist Lilesa made headlines last year after he crossed his arms over his head at the Rio de Janeiro marathon—a symbol of resistance Oromo people widely used during anti-government protests last year—as he passed the finish line in the marathon race at the Rio 2016 Olympics.

    The 27-year-old told BBC's Sport Today on Thursday that “blood is flowing” in Ethiopia.

    Speaking to Newsweek, an Embassy spokesperson dismissed Lilesa’s remarks as “fairy tales.”

    “The blood is not flowing,” the spokesperson said. “These are, as usual, unsubstantiated claims, a way to romanticize what happened.

    “He [Lilesa] is entitled to express his opinion, he can say anything. He can return to Ethiopia and no-one would touch him. But the problem is that there are radical people behind this and the diaspora is using him for their own political agenda.”

    Demonstrations broke out in the Oromia region of Ethiopia in November 2015 and later spread to the Amhara region, growing into what has been considered the biggest anti-government unrest in Ethiopia’s recent history. Protesters argued for a greater inclusion in the political process, claiming they had been marginalized, as the government is dominated by the Tigray minority, and called for the release of political prisoners.

    The protests resulted in the deaths of 669 people, including 63 policemen, according to a report released by Ethiopia’s Human Rights Commission earlier in April. Rights groups have accused security forces of killing hundreds, opening fire on unarmed protesters and arbitrarily arresting  protesters, journalists and human rights defenders during the unrest.

    While the country’s Human Rights Commission recommended prosecution of some police officers, it maintained that the overall response by security forces was adequate.   

    The commission said the protests were caused by a lack of good governance, but claimed organizations such as the Oromo Liberation Front (OLF), Oromo Federalist Congress (OFC) and Oromia Media Network called for illegal demonstrations and caused ethnic-based attacks.

    Rights groups have voiced concerns about the commission’s report, suggesting it fails to give an accurate picture of the security forces’ responsibility for the casualties.

    “The conclusion that security forces used appropriate levels of force in most situations is in stark contrast to what every other organization who has investigated has found,” Felix Horne, Ethiopia and Eritrea Senior Researcher at Human Rights Watch told Newsweek.

    “They should immediately release a full version of their report to see how they arrived at what seems like another politically-motivated conclusion.”   

    The United Nations and the European Union have expressed the will to conduct investigations into the violent unrest, but Ethiopia's Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn rejected such calls.

    “The Ethiopian government historically has avoided scrutiny of its human rights record at all levels—from courtrooms to the national commission to international mechanisms,” Horne said.

    “[The country’s government] has regularly stated that it can investigate itself through the Human Right Commission, but it has consistently failed to do so and Commission-led investigations have not met basic standards of impartiality.”

    Earlier this month, Desalegn told the BBC that Ethiopian sovereignty should be respected and that the Human Rights Commission’s investigation was the only way of dealing with the issue.

    Following his protest in Rio de Janeiro last year, Lilesa sought asylum in the U.S., claiming his life would be at risk if he returned to his homeland. The Ethiopian government has always denied such allegations.

    April 17, 2017 (ADDIS ABABA) – The Red Sea Afar Democratic Organization (RSADO), an Eritrean opposition group, claimed on Monday that the Red Sea nation had allegedly granted Egypt green light to build a military base within the country’s territory.

    Officials from the opposition group, quoting “reliable” sources in Eritrea, claimed Asmara has allowed Cairo to acquire a military base in Nora locality at the Dahlak Island for an indefinite period of time.

    The agreement, RSADO further said, comes in the wake of last week’s high-level visit of the Egyptian delegation to Eritrea.

    An estimated 20,000 to 30,000 Egyptian naval forces will be deployed at the planned base, officials from the group hinted.

    As it had long been anticipated and if true, Egypt will be Africa’s first and third Arab country to build a military facility in the reclusive East African nation, currently under United Nations sanctions for arming and financing Al-Shabab, a terrorist group allied with al-Qaeda.

    According to previous U.N reports, Eritrea has already leased its port town of Assab to Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to establish military bases to ease their coalition battle against Houthi rebels in Yemen.

    Concerned by Saudi and UAE military presence in Eritrea, Ethiopia warned the two Arab nations against supporting what it said was "Asmara’s long-standing destabilising agenda against Ethiopia".

    Recently, Egyptian leaders have reportedly been engaged in diplomatic efforts for regional countries including Somalia, Somaliland and Djibouti to grant them a military and commercial base in their selected soil. However, none of Cairo’s efforts were reportedly successful, prompting the opposition group to disclose this matter.

    Some Ethiopian politicians argue that Egypt’s growing interest to secure military incursion in the Horn of Africa intends to contain Ethiopia’s massive hydro-power project, which Cairo fears the multi-billion dollar dam project being built along Nile River would eventually diminish historic water shares of the North African nation.

    Redda Mulgeta, a member of Ethiopia’s ruling Peoples Republican Democratic Front (EPRDF), says Cairo’s motive to have a military presence in Eritrea was clear.

    "Egyptian leaders’ motive to have a military base in the soil of rival Eritrea is to sabotage the construction of Ethiopia’s mega dam project by supporting Eritrea sponsored anti-Ethiopian elements and al-Qaeda-allied Somali militant group,” Mulgeta told Sudan Tribune.

    "Egypt is conspiring with Eritrea to subject Ethiopia engage in proxy war with its enemy Eritrea, local armed opposition groups and further with al-Shabaab", he added.

    Meanwhile, despite the various U.N reports, Eritrea has previously dismissed revelations that it has leased lands for foreign countries.

    Relations between Ethiopia and Eritrea has remained odd after 1998-2000 border war, which killed an estimated over 70,000 people.

  • Propaganda on Fellow Oromo vs Fighting Against TPLF

    Now is the time to come to our sense. Our people are suffering under an oppressive yoke of TPLF. It is time to be effective and get rid of this fascist regime. We need to empower Oromo people against this brutal oppressor. One way of empowering Oromo liberation camp is by stopping the propaganda each of our organizations do against each other.

    What is propaganda in essence and where and when should we use it? Wikipedia defines it as follows: propaganda is a communication aimed at influencing the attitude of a community toward some cause or position. As opposed to impartially providing information, propaganda in its most basic sense, presents information primarily to influence an audience. Propaganda often presents facts selectively (thus lying by omission) to encourage a particular synthesis, or uses loaded messages to produce an emotional rather than rational response to the information presented. The desired result is a change of the attitude toward the subject in the target audience to further a political agenda. Propaganda is the deliberate, systematic attempt to shape perceptions, manipulate cognitions, and direct behavior to achieve a response that furthers the desired intent of the propagandist. Propaganda is generally an appeal to emotion, not intellect. It shares techniques of witt advertising and public relations, each of which can be thought of as propaganda that promotes a commercial product or shapes the perception of an organization, person or brand. I think, this is the positive aspect of propaganda, just selling one’s own agenda and attacking one’s enemy. The negative one being what is done against one’s rival (not enemy) by exagerating its weak side!

    So what is the purpose of the propaganda our different organizations do against their rivals? Whose cause does it promote? It is encouraging to observe that many of Oromo organizations came to the agreement not to make propaganda on each other. But specially the current propaganda going on between some factions of the OLF is disgusting to say the least. That is why I am in principle against any abhorrent propaganda they are doing against each other. Instead of blabbering the negative criticism against their rivals, they need to show us the better way of doing business. Oromo people support them not by looking at their best performance of propaganda against the other faction, but by seeing their best way of leading us in the liberation movement. It is pitty to see an OLF forged against OLF as if we need an opposition against rebel parties. Are we naives not to observe the damage we are doing against the Oromo liberation movement or are we the victim of our smart foes riding us like their horses and made us doing their bidding? First was OLF against OLF, then AWO against OLF, then ODF against OLF and now KWO against OLF! What a shame on us genuine Oromo and what a pride for the fake ones who claim to be Oromo, but working against Oromo cause in a very sublte way! Oromo, please wake up, watch and walk! Let’s stop the destructive propaganda against each other and let’s start the very constructive fighting against our arch enemy – the TPLF. I think, the positive propaganda defined here is to propagate ones own merit in an exagerated form, not necessarily to denigerate the fellow Oromo rival fighting for the same goal against the same enemy!

    What is fighting (war) in essence. Again here is how it is defined in wikipedia: War is a reciprocated, armed conflict, between two or more non-congruous entities, aimed at reorganising a subjectively designed, geo-politically desired result. It is the continuation of political intercourse, carried on with other means. War is an interaction in which two or more opposing forces have a struggle of wills. The term is also used as a metaphor for non-military conflict, such as in the example of Class war.

    So what is the “geo-politically desired result” of the Oromo and who is our main enemy, who is trying to hinder us from achieving this result? When we look at war as the “struggle of wills”, can we identify what Oromo’s will and what the will of our enemy is? Do all our political organizations persue to realize the same will of Oromo or do they have different wills in mind? When we look at the different OLF factions doing their abhorrent propaganda against each other, we just start to think: do they really have different wills of the Oromo in mind? What makes them so aggrressiv against each other, rather than focusing on the main Oromo enemy? Do they think to benefit the Oromo by such propagnada on each other instead of fighting against the enemy?

    I personally assure them that Oromo community is fade up of their bickering. What Oromo want to see from them now is far sightedness and wisdom. Even if they can not be united, they can respect each other and continue their contribution to the liberation movement in their chosen way. The more propaganda they do against their fellow Oromo organization, the more respect they lose from the Oromo public. We have started to register that one faction is now consciously doing very little propaganda and we commend this. The media of the other faction is still full of propaganda on its rival instead of concentrating on fighting against TPLF. If it continues like this, I am sure it simply loses support of the Oromo slowly. So I would like to adivice all factions to stop their nonsense propaganda on each other and be smart freedom fighters strong in attacking mainly our arch enemy – TPLF.

    I hope this idea is noble and should be respected by all factions fighting for Oromo liberation! Unfortunately both factions of the OLF still active in propaganda have still a lot to learn. Let me give them certain further suggestions:

    – to KWO group: stop crying about the “booddessaa group” and show us that you are dureessaa; stop crying about “reactionary oldies” and show us that you are young progressive; stop about the “divisive Shane” and show us that you are the integrating forces…..etc. In general before crying about the negative side of your rival Shane, show us your positivie side regarding that negative aspect you do criticize on your rival.

    – to Shane group: stop singing about “gosummaa of Miciirama” and show us your Oromummaa; stop talking about “hand of the enemy behind Miciirama” and show us your own purity; stop talking about the “wickedness of Miciirama” and show us your side of goodness….etc. In general do your best to be the most accepted and respected OLF rather than crying about the “fake OLF”, which you tell us not to accept.

    I think this is an idea, which we all Oromo need to accept and practice. Let’s Stop propaghanda on our fellow Oromo and start now to intensifry our war against TPLF. Otherwise, to be successfull in propaganda against our enemy, we need to empower Oromo liberation block, that meanse we have to strive to give confidence and power, so that Oromo people can do itself the job of liberation. We have to approach celebrating Irreechaa (Irreessaa, Irreensa) always thinking at the two meanings of the word. Irreessaa can be defined as both thanksgiving and empowering. Let’s daily celebrate in both senses: give thanks to our Waaqa and empower our nation – Oromo. We can do the second one in two ways: come together before Waaqa and commit our selves to unity for freedom and avoid all possible things which contribute to our division and our weakening like the propaganda we do against each other. I hope, Irreessaa of this year will be the time of empowering Oromo to do efficient war to achieve our goal.

    Last, but not least, the Oromo are very aware that TPLF cadres are doing their major role in cyber world being camouflaged as either faction of the OLF to insult, curse and vilify the other faction in forums, in paltalks and in different websites. They usually change their tactic and method. Now recently they statrted a new devide of Oromo they do use: Qubee (new) generation Vs “Oldies” or old generation. They tell us to be from the new generation having the right and the new idea to fight against the “oldies (the reactionaries, ineffectives, non-visionaries”…etc). Fortunately, we can discern their hidden motive and we are ready to deal with such mad dogs, but the propaganda we do hear from medias of the OLF factions can not be attributed to TPLF cadres, rather only to the mistake of our liberation promoters. So, again my appeal to the OLF factions and other Oromo organizations is: please stop propaganda on fellow Oromo and intensify the fighting against our archenemy – TPLF!

    Joint Statement of the Oromo political organizations in regard to GGO conference

    Dear Sirs:

    Thank you so much for inviting us to your Global Gumii Oromia founding Conference. Our organizations always attend and take part in any genuine, valuable, important and worthwhile Oromo conferences that advance the Oromo struggle, Oromo interests, and the Oromo unity. We always value the coming together of the Oromo nationals to discuss the Oromo issues. However, we decline to attend your conference based on four important factors that you have been advancing that violate the interest of the Oromo people and incompatible and in contradiction to Oromo nationalists’ unity, and the Oromo wishes and aspiration. Here are four factors for our decline to attend your conference.


    1. The GGO as an organization has no specific objective to achieve. It is unclear to us whether GGO is a political organization or non-profit organization.


    2. GGO has no specific program except duplicating the OLC’s program. We believe this action divides the Oromo nationals. Neither our organizations nor the Oromo people want divisions; and

    3. The statement made by the Chairman of GGO, Dr. Asseffa Jaalata on Radio Finfinnee falsely accusing and labelling the Oromo nationalists and patriots as enemies, ”gantuu,” meaning betrayers, traitors and turncoats; galtuu meaning uncultured and “gurgurtuu,” meaning sellouts; ergantuu meaning messenger of enemy is not statement of calling for unity. It is a statement of generating doubt, hostility, antagonism and divisiveness within Oromo nationals. We are disappointed and indeed offended at such uncalled for negative and polarizing campaign targeting the Oromo people, the Oromo nationalists and patriots.

    Furthermore, Dr. Asseffa Jaalata told Radio Finfinnee that according to his research the Oromo’s problem in this national liberation struggle is based on “political ignorance.” This statement of “political ignorance” means that the Oromo people do not known or do not understand why they have been in this struggle sacrificing their lives and the lives of their sons and daughters. Such statement undermines the wisdom of the Oromo people. Hence, we found this statement of “Oromo’s political ignorance” as an insult to and a condemnation of the Oromo people and to those Oromo nationalists and patriots who had sacrificed and still scarifying their precious lives in this national liberation struggle. We believe this is not a right approach to bring people together.


    For the above reasons, we decline to attend your conference to be held in April 14-16, 2017 in Minneapolis, MN.


    Above all, it is our organizations’ and the Oromo people’s interests that GGO and OLC merge. It is only in this way the Oromo people and their struggle will be served well. This to be materialized, our organizations are ready to be a vehicle to help to bring the GGO and OLC to merge. We believe both of you- GGO and OLC will take this seriously.

  • Leenco and Isaias should wise-up - Biiftu G

    Both Isaias Afewerki and Leencoo Lataa gave interview to OMN in April , within a week or so span of time. I listened to both interviews respectively. What I found very interesting is why tell us details now and why did both wait for 25 years for some details. Let's forget about the details, and just concentrate on the main theme. For one, both gentlemen are losers to TPLF: Isaias was so ambitious that he thought he will lead the Horn of Africa, if not all of Africa after Eritrean independence. He liberated Eritrea, but failed to lead the Horn, let Alone Africa. In fact, he couldn't even lead Eritrea in a civilized manner; he became a tyrant dictator, and one of the worst human rights abusers of Africa. Notwithstanding, he is also a leader, he was a leader of great guerrilla fighters and a liberator of Eritrea. After independence, he was decisively defeated by TPLF and lost both economic and diplomatic advantage over TPLF. 

    How about Leenco Lataa? He lost everything: lost leadership in his beloved Ethiopia; lost leadership within OLF; and he surrendered Oromia proper to his once trusted mythological heroes--the TPLF. As he told us proudly on OMN, he has been a refugee for the past 25 years. 


    In other words, both Isaias Afewerki and Leencoo Lataa are licking their wounds. They are both blaming each other for their current misfortune for both could have changed the situation had they both wisely managed the transition in 1992. Isaias's ego was so inflated that he thought he could control TPLF and OLF and the Horn in such a way that Eritrrea would be the SOLE beneficiary. He was wrong as time has proved. Leencoo trusted Isaias and Meles more than he trusted the people he purport fighting to liberate. He was the only knew-it-all, and didn't have to talk to any person, particularly an educated Oromo, let alone take advise. As would be expected, his dream and superficial power vanished and evaporated like morning dew before he woke up from his delusion. 

    The whole blame game now was unnecessary to say the least. The past should be left to the past, for those who really care about what happened already know just about everything and do not want to learn from these two men. The verdict by scholars about those painful years will indict both Isaias and Leencoo as two leaders who failed their respective peoples. 

    What Isaias and Leencoo should and can do now is to wise-up and use their experience of the past misdeeds and design a strategy and tactic to defeat TPLF and free the peoples of Eritrea economically and Oromia politically in particular. As Oromo qeerroo demonstrated 2015/16, TPLF is now hanging by a tread. These two men can cooperate to finish up the TPLF rule if they only wise up. Oromia and Eritrea can be the stabilizing force in the Horn and Eritrea can live in prosperity with free and prosper Oromia. Eritrea may even be able to import "milk and Honey from Oromia free of duty charge. Thinking forwards is the solution, thinking backwards and blaming each other is defeatism and contributes nothing to the future of both nations. It should also be evident for the gentlemen that , with or without these two men, Oromia shall be free, and Eritreans will chose to have a democrat leader in the future.

  • ከኢሳያስ አፈወርቂ ቃለ-ምልልስ በስተጀርባ – ክንፉ አሰፋ

    ጠንቋይና አፖለቲከኛ የሚያመሳስላቸው አንድ ነገር አለ። ሁለቱም ተገልጋያቸውን ለማምታታት የትኩረት አቅጣጫ ማስቀየርን ተክነውበታል።  ኢሳያስ አፈወርቂ በዚህኛው – የኦሮሚያ መዲያ ኔትወርክ – ገለጸቸው ራሳቸውን ሳይቀይሩ ሌላውን ለመቀየር የተነሱ ግብዝ ነው የሆኑት።

    ይህ “ቃለ-ምልልስም” አንድ አላማ አለው። አላማውን ለማወቅ ቃላቶችን መሰንጠቅም አያስፈልግም። ግልጽ ነው።   ‘ብዙ ስላልተሰራበት’ መልዕክቱ የተጠበቀውን አላማ የመታ አይመስልም።  ቃለ-ምልልሱ የተደረገበት ወቅት፣ የተመረጠበት ሰዓት የሚሰጠን ግልጽ የሆነ ግን የተለየ ትርጉም  አለ።

    ጠያቂዎቹ በሻዕቢያ ላይ የነበራቸው የፖለቲካ አቋም ከመቅጽበት መቀየሩ በራሱ የሂደቱን ግራጫ ምስል ያሳየናል።”ሁሉን ቢናገሩ ሆድ ባዶ ይቀራል።” ይላሉ አበው።  እነዚህ ጉዳዮች ውስጥ ገብቶ መላ-ምቶችን መዘርዘሩ አስፈላጊ ባይሆንም (አንዱ መላ ምት ግንቦት ሰባት ከሻእቢያ እየተፋታ ነው የሚለው ነው)፣ ይህንን የፖለቲካ ሂሳብ ለመቀመር ግን ሮኬት ሳይንቲስት መሆን የሚጠበቅ አይደለም።

    ነቢያት በቀየሱ ሐዋርያት ገሰገሱ ነውና ነገሩ፣ ዞሮ-ዞሮ ያለፈ ታሪክ ሲደገም ነው የምናየው። ከሻዕቢያ ጋር በፍቅር መውድቁ እጅግ ቀላል እንደሆነ ከበርካቶች አይተነዋል። ከባዱ ነገር አብሮ መቆየቱ እንደሆነም ተገንዝበናል። የሰው ልጅ አንዴ ይሸወዳል። ሁለቴ ለመሸወድ ራስን ማሳመን ግን ብልህነት አይደለም። “ወደ ፊት የምንራመድ ከሆነ ታሪክን መድገም ሳይሆን አዲስ ታሪክ መፍጠር አለብን።” ይሉናል ማሀተመ ጋንዲ።

    ይህች ጎንበስ-ጎንበስ ታዲያ የቁቤው ትውልድ የአስመራን “ወዳጅነት” ፍለጋ ለመሆንዋ የፖለቲካ አቡጊዳን ለቆጠረ አዲስ አይሆንም። ጋዜጠኛ አርጋው አሽኔ በዋዜማ ራዲዮ የኦሮሞ ወጣቶች ትግል በአስመራ ስለሟሟቅ የተናገርውን ተከትሎ – ከቁቤው ትውልድ ውግዘት ደርሶበታል። ውግዘቱ ባይኖር ነበር ሚደንቀው። ውግዘቱ ወደ ተለመደው የአበቱታ ፊርማ ላለማደጉም ዋስትና የለም።

    ፖለቲካ ተለዋዋጭ ነው በሚል ብሂል ብቻ ተነሳስተን ፖለቲካውን ባልተገራ ፈረስ መጋለብ መሞከር የከፋ አደጋም እንዳለው ሳይረዱት ቀርተው ሊሆን አይችልም። በዲፕሎማሲ ሀ-ሁ “ቋሚ ወዳጅ እና ቋሚ ጠላት የለም” ተብሎ ብቻ የቅርቡን ትዝታ ወዲያ ብለው፣ በብርሃን ፍጥነት የሚጓዙበት ጉዳይም አይደለም።  ከነዚህ ሁሉ ቀደም ብለው የሚወራረዱ ሂሳቦች ይኖራሉ። ለመቀበል በመጀመርያ መስጠት ግዴታ ነውና። ኢሳያስ አፈወርቂ ይህንን ሁሉ ለጽድቅ እየሰሩት እንዳልሆነ ሕጻን ልጅም አያጣውም።

    ግና የኢትዮጵያን ችግር ለመፍታት የቀረው “ብቸኛው አማራጭ የትጥቅ ትግል ነው።” እየተባለ በሚነገርበት በዚህ ወሳኝ ወቅት በጦር ተደራጅተው ለአመታት አስመራ የመሸጉት ኦቦ ዳውድ ኢብሳን እብብታቸው ስር ሸጉጠው፤  ይልቁንም እነ ጃዋር መሃመድ እንደ ሸቀጥ የሚያዞሩትን የ”ኦሮሚያ አብዮት” ወደ አስመራ ለማስገባት መጣራቸው የሚደነቅ ነው።  ይህንን ለማድረግ  ቃል መግባታቸው “የፖለቲካ ዝሙት”  ብቻ ብለን የምናልፈው ጉዳይ አይደለም። በኢትዮጵያ የምትካሄደዋ እያንዳንድዋ እንቅስቃሴ የአስመራ ይሁንታ እንዲኖራት የሚደረግ ሸፍጥም አለበት።

    በኦሮሚያ ሜድያ ኔትወርክ የቀረበው ጉዳይ “ቃለ ምልልስ” ነው? ውይይት ነው?ወይንስ የኢሳያስ አፈወርቂ የአቋም መግለጫ?… የሚሉትን ጥያቄዎች ማንሳቱም ተገቢ ይመስላል። ጥያቄው ከመልሱ ሲረዝም፣ ጥያቄዎች ተጽፈው ቀርበው ሲነበቡ እና ጠያቂዎች ፈራ-ተባ እያሉ፤  አንዳንዴም በፈገግታ ሲናገሩ ከተጠያቂው ተሰጡትን የቤት ስራዎች መስራታቸውን ያሳብቃሉ።  በጋዜጠኝነት ሙያ ውስጥ ቃለ-ምልልስ ራሱን የቻለ ጥበብ እና አካሄድ አለው። ጠያቂው ከተጠያቂው በልጦ ካልተገኘና፣  ባላመነበት ጉዳይ ተጠያቂውን መሞገት ካልቻለ …ነገሩን ቃለ-ምልልስ ነው ልንለው ይከብደናል። ከጠያቂዎቹ (ገረሱ ቱፋ እና ደረጀ ሃዋዝ) የሚሰነዘሩት ጉዳዮች በሙሉ ስለ ኦሮሞ እና በኦሮሚያ የተቃኙ ናቸው። ኢሳያስ አፈወርቂ የሚሰጡት ምላሽ ደግሞ ስለ ኢትዮጵያ ነው። ሁለቱ አልተጣጣሙም። ፕሬዝዳንቱ የሚጠየቁትን ሳይሆን ማስተላለፍ የፈለጉትን ነገር ነበር የሚናገሩት።

    ህዝባዊ አመጹ የሃገሪቱን ፖለቲካ ለወራት እያናወጠው በነበረበት ግዜ፣ ኦቦ ዳውድ ኢብሳ አስመራ ላይ ተኝተዋል። ሃገር ሲደበላለቅ፣ እሳቸው ልክ እንደ ሕጻን ልጅ ተጋድመው ከባድ እንቅልፍ ወስዷቸው ነበር። የሱናሚው ማዕበል ነበር ከዚያ ለ20 ዓመታት ክተኙበት ከባድ እንቅልፍ ቀስቅሶ ያነቃቸው። ከእንቅልፋቸውም ሲነቁ እንዲህ አሉ።

    “ሕዝባዊ አመጹን እየመራሁ ያለሁት እኔ ነኝ!”

    ይህ አነጋገራቸው ከፌስ ቡኩ አርበኛ ከጃዋር መሃመድ ጋር ገመድ ያጓትታቸው እንጂ ለወያኔ ግን ጃክፖት ነበር የሆነለት። ይህንን ማለታቸው፣ የኦሮሞን ወገን እንዲመታ ለወያኔ ቦንብ አቀበሉት። ያንን ግዙፍ የህዝብ ንቅናቄ የኦነግን ኩታ አልብሰውና በስልቻ ልክ አጥብበው ድባቅ እንዲመታ አደረጉት።

    ኢሳያስ አፈወርቂን ገረሱ ቱፋ ስለ አመጹ ጠይቋቸው ሲመልሱ፤ “በዚያ የሱናሚ ማእበል ውስጥ የአንድም ፖለቲካ ድርጀት እጅ የለበትም። የሕዝብ በደል ለሁለት አስርተ አመታት ተጠራቀሞ በመጨረሻ ፈነዳ” ነበር ያሉት።

    ይህንን በተናገሩ ግዜ በጉያቸው አንቀላፍቶ ለታሪክ ሽሚያ የነቃው ዳውድ ኢብሳ እጅግ አሳዘነኝ። እጉድጓድዋ ተደብቃ እንደምትቁለጨለጭ ትንሽ አይጥ መሰለኝ። ኢሳያስ አፈወርቂ ስለ ኦሮሞ ነጻ አውጭ ግንባር የተናገሩት በዚህ አላበቃም። ሰለ ድርጅቱ በተደጋጋሚ የሚናገሩት “የታሪክ ስህተት” ጉዳይም ያስደምማል። አንደኛው 20 ሺ የሚያህል የኦነግ ሰራዊት እሳቸው መርገምት ብለው ለሚጠሩት ወያኔ አስረክበው መፈርጠጣቸው። ይህ ታሪካዊ ስህተት አሁን ውጤቱ እየታየ ሰለሆነው ጉዳይ ሲሆን፤  ሁለተኛው ደግሞ የአማራ ሕዝብ ጨቁኗል እየተባለ የሚነገረው ፍጹም ሃሰት እንደሆነ በዚህ ገለጻቸው ማስረገጣቸው ነው። ልብ እንበል። ጠያቂዎቹ ጃዋር መሃመድ ከሚመራው የኦሮሚያ ሜዲያ ኔትወርክ ናቸው።

    ኢሳያስ አፈወርቂ “የገዥ ቡድን እንጂ የአማራ ጨቋኝ አልነበረም። ይህ የወያኔ ፈጠራ ነው። ይህ ዘራፊ ቡድን እንዲህ ካላደረገ መቆየት አይችልም።” ባይ ናቸው። አማራ የኦሮሞ ጠላት ሆኖ አያውቅም ከሚለው ተነስተእ፣   የአማራው ሕዝብ ሲጨቁን ነበር እየተባለ የሚነገረው ብሂል ስህተት እንደሆነ ሲናገሩ ለመጀመርያ ግዜ መሆኑ ነው። ለዚያውም በኦሮሚያ ሜዲያ ኔትወርክ።

    ወያኔ ያጎረሳቸውን ሁሉ ሳያላምጡ ጥሬውን ውጠው፣  በትላንት ላይ ለተጠመዱት ሁሉ ይህ ትልቅ መልእክት ይመስላል።

    ፕሬዚዳንቱ ይህንን የተናገሩበት ምክንያት ከጀርባ ቢጠናም፣  ምክንያቶች ቢደረደርም – ባይደረደርም፤  መራራው ሃቅ ከአንደበታቸው ወጥቷል። ለማመን እንጂ ላለማመን ምክንያት የሚፈልጉ የሜዲያው መልእክተኞችም በዚህ ጉዳይ ላይ ዝምታን ከመምረጥ ውጭ አማራጭ የነበራቸው አይመስልም። ከጀግናው ጃገማ ኬሎ ይልቅ ጃዋርን ለሚያደንቅ ትውልድ፣  ከአቡነ ጴትሮስ ይልቅ ለሊበን ዋቆ የሚያጨበጭብ ትውልድ አልሰማ ብሎ እንጂ የታሪክ ምሁራንም የሚነግሩን ይህንን ሃቅ ነው።

    በ1991 (እ.ኤ.አ) የሽግግር መንግስቱ ሲመሰረት ኢሳያስ አፈወርቂ ስለ አኢዮጵያ ታሪክ ሲናገሩ፣ ይህንን ተረት-ተረት እዚያው ዩኒቨርሲቲያችሁ ጣሉት ነበር ያሉት።  በዚሁ ቃለ-ምልልሳቸውም የምንኮራባቸው ኢትዮጵያ እሴቶች፤ በተለይ ደግሞ ያሃገሪቱ የሶስት ሺ ዘመን ታሪክ ተረት-ተረት (ሚት) ነው ይሉናል። ኢትዮጵያ ታሪክ እንደሌላት የሚያሳየውን ማስረጃ ግን አሁንም አላሳዩንም።

    ከኢትዮጵያ ተነጥሎ መኖር በሕዝባቸው ላይ ያደረሰው መከራ አሁንም ትምህርት የሰጣቸው አይመስልም። ላለፉት 25 አመታት በባርነት የተያዘውና ለስደት የተዳረገውን የኤርትራ ሕዝብ ችግር ችላ ብለው አሁንም ስለ ኢትዮጵያ ቅኝ ገዥነት ነው የሚናገሩት።

    በመላው ኢትዮጵያ የተነሳው ሕዝባዊ አመጽ ውስጥ የኤርትራ እጅ አለበት መባሉ ኢሳያስ አፈወርቂን አስቋቸዋል። ምላሻቸው ባሳቅ ብቻ አላበቃም፤  “ይህንን ባደረግነውና ደስ ባለን ነበር። ግን ሁኔታዎች እና የአቅም ጉዳይ ሆኖ አላደረግነውም።” ይላሉ። ካሁን በኋላ ግን እጃችንን አጣጥፈን አንቀመጥም በሚል ቅላጼ በኢትዮጵያ የሚደረገውን የመብት ትግል የመደገፍ ግደታ እንዳለባቸው ተናግረዋል። ይህንንም የሚያደርጉት ለውጡ አስፈላጊ ሆኖ ስላገኙት እንደሆነ ገልጸዋል።

    በኢትዮጵያ የሚደረገውን የለውጥ ትግል አስመራ በምን መንገድ ለመደገፍ ማቀድዋ ግልጽ ባይሆንም “የትጥቅ ትግሉ” ከትብብሩ ፓኬት ውስጥ ለመውጣቱ ግን ጨረፍ አርገውታል።

    የኤርትራ ጂኦግራፊያዊ አቀማመጥ ለትጥቅ ትግሉ ድጋፍ አስቸጋሪ እንደነበርም ኢሳያስ ሳይናገሩ አለለፉም።  የሁኔታዎች አለመምቻቸት እና የአቅም ጉዳይም ድጋፍ እንዳይደረግ አስተዋጻኦ አድርገዋል ይላሉ አይቴ ኢሳያስ አፈወርቂ።

    ስርዓቱን በጦር ለመፋለም የወሰኑ ሃይሎች ወደ አስመራ ያመሩት ኤርትራ በኮሪደርነት እንድታገለግላቸው ነበር። ጦርነት ፋይዳ የሌለው መሆኑን ኢሳያስ የሚነግሩን ከሆነ ታዲያ “ካሁን በኋላ ለመርዳት” ያሰቡት ምንድነው? ለጦርነት ካልሆነ ኤርትራ መግባቱ ለምን አስፈለገ?  ሰላማዊው ትግሉም የነሱን ቡራኬ ይሻል ማለት ነው?

    ከዚህ ሁሉ የትጥቅ ትግል እና የጦርነት ወሬ በኋላ “ሁኔታዎች አላመቹምና፤ “የሽግግር መንግስት” እንደገና እንዲቋቋም ሃሳብ ሰጥተዋል።  “በ1991 ድል ተቀዳጅተናል። ያለምነው ነገር ግን ግቡን አልመታም። 25 ዓመት እንዲሁ ባክኗል፣ አሁን የምመክረው ሁሉም የሚሳተፍበት የሽግግር መንግስት እንዲቋቋም ነው።” ብለዋል። አዲዮስ!  ግራም ነፈሰ ቀኝ፣ ተከካም ተቦካ ትልቁ ዳቦ ግን እዚህ ላይ ሊጥ ሆነ!
